Aston Martin & Red Bull Racing AM-RB001
Aston Martin, immediately upon hearing the name you’ll think of James Bond and words like elegance, grace, beauty, timeless and classic comes to mind. Its a brand synonymous for creating some of the most iconic cars every made, cars like the DB4, DB5, the Vantage, DB9, the Vanquish and The One-77. It’s a brand that I love. Their ethos is something I admire, their designs are truly classical… hell they base their designs on the Golden ratio for God sake.
And then there’s Red Bull Racing, which is a fairly young team, but its a team thats giving the big boys of Formula One a run for its money. It’s a team with a lot of passionate and smart individuals who wants to bring Formula One technology to the road.
And what you see in these pictures is the child of two giants.
The Aston Martin – Red Bull Racing AM-RB001.
Aston Martin & Red Bull Racing introduced the AM-RB001 concept on July 5th 2016.
Even though it’s still in the conceptual phase, they were kind enough to divulge some info. Here’s what we know…
The AM-RB001 will basically be a Le Mans sports prototype for the road, every aspect of the car is bespoke, meaning that they will not be borrowing pieces from previous Aston Martin cars. The structure of the car will be made of carbon fiber, obviously. Aerodynamics will basically come from Formula One, hence the huge front splitter, inlets and outlets throughout the side of the AM-RB001 for better air flow and downforce. A high-revving, mid-mounted, naturally aspirated V12 will power the AM-RB001, with a goal of 1:1 power to weight ratio.
Only 90-150 AM-RB001 road cars will be made and that includes prototypes as well, another 25 AM-RB001 will also be produced but these will be track-only versions.
I’m pretty excited to see more photos of the AM-RB001 and to find out what roll will AMG play in the AM-RB001 high-revving engine. I’m sure we’ll know more come October, at the Paris Auto Show.
