Coolest photo of ME

February 15th, 2017 § 0 comments § permalink

Coolest photo of me was made possible by these kind gentlemen.

As a photographer I absolutely dread being in front of the camera, I’m made to be behind it not in front of it. But as soon as I saw these guys and the amazing morning light shinning over Angkor Wat I just had to jump on the other side of the camera.

More photos from Cambodia coming soon.

2016 – Thank You. 2016 you were an amazing year for me.
Photographically I didn’t shoot much, I didn’t accomplish a lot, I left so much on the table… but 2016 you were an amazing year.

Photography is something I do for fun; my therapy to keep my sanity. However, its also a dream of mine to have my work published, to be dawn the pages of a magazine or see my work on a billboard would truly be amazing. The reality is I also have a day job… which at times gets in the way. But the goal more than ever in my life is to completely change that for 2017.

This blog, this website is going to be focused more on documenting my journey throughout 2017 rather than creating images; I hope you tag along throughout what I hope will be an adventure filled 2017.

So even though I left so much on the table in 2016, I’m certainly going into 2017 hungry…. hungry to capture the light.

The RNC Side Show.

The Republican National Convention is in the town and of course so is the circus that surrounds todays world of politics. I decided to venture out, capture the atmosphere and see what the buzz was all about.

AM-RB 001

Aston Martin & Red Bull Racing AM-RB001

Aston Martin, immediately upon hearing the name you’ll think of James Bond and words like elegance, grace, beauty, timeless and classic comes to mind. Its a brand synonymous for creating some of the most iconic cars every made, cars like the DB4, DB5, the Vantage, DB9, the Vanquish and The One-77. It’s a brand that I love. Their ethos is something I admire, their designs are truly classical… hell they base their designs on the Golden ratio for God sake.

And then there’s Red Bull Racing, which is a fairly young team, but its a team thats giving the big boys of Formula One a run for its money. It’s a team with a lot of passionate and smart individuals who wants to bring Formula One technology to the road.

And what you see in these pictures is the child of two giants.

Black Manta

Ian King : Black Manta

There are people out there who’s imagination is crazy enough to create something truly beautiful. They follow their hearts, do things differently, because being like everyone else isn’t in their blood

The car your looking at is probably the craziest Corvette you’ve ever seen. Ian King of Car Porn Racing and his team created something truly unique. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Ian a few times now and each time I meet up with him, I get introduce to another beautiful car. His passion for cars is something truly different from most out there, he’s not in it because all the cool kids are doing it, not Sir; this guy is a real a car guy through and through.

I saw plenty of photos of Black Manta from Ian’s Instagram page, but seeing it in person was whole different experience.

The Black Manta is a study in how making a few changes, can leave you with one very special car. The clam shell hood, the menacing front end, the gigantic spoiler in the back, those front and rear fender housing the DPE Wheels all come together to form this insanely beautiful kit.

The experience was breath taking, no BS. I witnessed necks breaking as we drove to the location, we stop shooting for a bit because people were taking selfies with the car and asking questions… why you ask… well hell because its something they’ve never seen before… its something you’ve never seen before.

Staring at the beautiful creation for hours would have perfectly fine with me. The Black Manta is a piece of art, born from passion, hard work and the pursuit to be different. You cant help but appreciate Ian and his teams work because the Black Manta is just so cool, so Thank You to the man who lived out his dream and shared it with us.

Subaru Levorg - Michael KALBO Simon-10

A while back I received an online survey from Subaru North America that asked numerous question to which frankly I don’t remember any of it, except for one. And the question was something like….
– If Subaru introduced a new WRX Hatchback would you be interested?

1 of 24 made. 1 of 3 in the USA.

Sometime in November of 2015 I received a phone call that basically went like this…

Aston Martin of Cleveland: Michael, we’re getting the first Vulcan in the US. Can you come up and shoot it for us?
Me: Hell ya, just tell me when.
